As I stand on the brink of completing my journey at the University of Missouri, the weight of gratitude in my heart is immense. This May, when I receive my bachelor's degree in Social Work and embark on the journey into graduate school, I will do so with the understanding that this accomplishment is not mine alone. It is a collective of countless instances of kindness, encouragement and support from a community that has loved me through everything. My academic success is an example of that shared belief and relentless support over these years when I couldn't do that for myself.
Jesse
Spring 2024 Recipient, Columbia
I have done many speaking engagements in Missouri and other states throughout my journey, telling my story to teens, and others that have been battered and abused. Every time I share my story it gives me another piece of healing, strength, peace, knowledge, hope, and power. If you ask me, why am I deserving of this scholarship? My answer would be, because I am willing to put in the work necessary to reach my goal. This financial help will not go to waste. I believe by you helping me in this financial advancement with my education, I will one day be in the best position in life to give back. My plan is to pour into others, like others have poured into me.
